We apologize for the confusion. The manufacturer of the cassettes changed from paper flaps to plastic caps. Based upon overwhelming complaints about the difficulty of removing the plastic caps from the cassettes, our fulfilment team started removing the plastic caps and sealing the cassettes in the plastic sleeves.
We’ve preemptively run a few checks by leaving un-capped cassettes open to determine if the efficacy of the cassettes would be affected and there was not a concern. The particulates in the air need to pass through the cassettes at a particular flowrate to become impacted in a gel agar on the inside of the cassettes. This does not take place unless the cassettes are utilized in conjunction with an air pump.
This means you will skip the steps in the instructions regarding paper flaps and proceed with the rest of the instructions.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
